To celebrate what would have been the 52nd Birthday of the King of Pop, One White Glove is proud to present this special gift to all of his fans.

This “rare promo 12-inch” was purchased on e-bay and is said to be a special promotional item for Michael Jackson’s This Is It. Unlike the 4-disc LP set, this features only the tracks from the second bonus disc of the CD release of This Is It as well as 2 Bonus “Rare” tracks.

The authenticity of this album, however, is questionable. While the pressing itself is fairly decent, and appears to be legitimate, the fact that there are several typo’s on the back cover (see included photos), no catalogue information of any sorts (apart from the number scratched into the dead-wax of the vinyl itself), the cover itself is printed on fairly light stock (and is clearly the regular artwork resized to 12 inches by 12 inches, meaning lots of compression artifacts are visible), and most importantly, the fact that the version of Hot Street that is included is actually a fan made remix leads me to believe that it is not an official promotional item.

That said, the quality of the tracks is all fantastic, and the vinyl itself sounds pretty great. It’s just not worth the rather exorbitant price I paid (hoping that the included version of “Hot Street” would be an official mix from Sony/The Estate).

The album was ripped using my Thorens TD 145 turntable with a Grado cartridge, and then fed through my Radio Shack SSM-8030 Stereo Mixer’s pre-amp and finally into my MacBook Pro where it was recorded at 44KhZ/16bit AIFF, and then subsequently transcoded to FLAC. There has been no cleanup on the files themselves - what you get is what came out of the vinyl. No EQ, or Noise Reduction, or Pop Clean-up. I figured I’d leave that to the experts.

At any rate, we hope you enjoy this disc and share it with all.

Happy Birthday Michael. Long Live the King.

L.O.V.E.

Mick Jackson - Blame it on the Boogie

Here’s the original version of “Blame it on the Boogie” from Mick Jackson. This version, and the battle between it and The Jacksons’ version was the subject of a documentary which we posted earlier today.

It’s Christmas so we’ll keep this brief for now. A full post will come, likely tomorrow.

In the mean time, enjoy the unreleased second disc from the Dangerous Special Edition.

One White Glove is proud to present:

Dangerous: Special Edition Bonus Cuts

Includes High Resolution artwork created exclusively for this release. Special thanks to the fans at MJ Hideout who got together the money to purchase this disc and eventually share it with the world.

The year was approximately 2002. It was a pretty interesting year to be a Michael Jackson fan. Jackson was insisting that Tommy Mattola was the devil due to the “failure” of his album Invincible. Blanket was born, and their was a great deal of controversy surrounding that. Jackson had made an cameo in Men In Black II. We even got a new album, although it wasn’t much more than a greatest hits compilation. However, it was also a special year thanks to some dedicated fans. We saw leaks of several brand new Jackson tracks, including Escape (often mistitled Xscape) and What More Can I Give. However the biggest leak was found on the site MJ Hideout. It seems one dedicated fan had leaked a collection of studio demos from the Dangerous sessions.

The set included “demos” of several songs from the Jackson album, Dangerous, as well as a few new previously unreleased tracks, as well as an early demo of Earth Song (which would later be released on the HIStory album). Two of the leaked songs, Monkey Business and For All Time, would later be released officially on The Ultimate Collection and Thriller 25 (though the version of For All Time found on Thriller 25 appears to be an earlier version with new vocal overdubs). A few of the other unreleased tracks found their way onto the second-disc of the Dangerous Special Edition, however in the end it was decided to not include the bonus disc. That bonus disc eventually found its way online, commonly under the title of “The Real Special Edition”.

Over the years these demos have circulated in varying quality, both in their original forms and with some fan made edits. What we present are the original demos as they were originally leaked. Please replace the versions you may have with these ones as they are as they were originally delivered online, with no edits, enhancements, or modifications.

Now remember, these were originally leaked as “Demos” however some say this is not a fair name, as they could in many cases be considered simply alternate takes. However I’m going by what the original leaker called them.

These are the ones that came from the DAT (digital audio tape) and as such contain some tape hiss (though not enough to make them listenable). In some cases they may sound almost identical to the originals, and some have subtle differences. As for the unreleased tracks, these are different from the ones that were eventually leaked with “The Real Special Edition”. Again, sometimes the differences are subtle but you can hear them. Again, this may be due to alternate takes.

* — NOT INCLUDED AS THIS HAS BEEN RELEASED OFFICIALLY (I hear no difference between the two, simply quality improvements for the Box Set)
^ — Yes, a VERSION of this was included on the Thriller 25 boxset, however this version is different. Some said the song was recorded twice, during the Thriller Era and then again for the Dangerous sessions. I don’t know what the truth is, however this is different and as such was included.

Format: MP3

Note: there are two other compilations of demos out there, both of which are fan made and fake. A two disc “promo” disc featuring “studio demos” for songs not included in this release was being sold by several “fans” and contained homemade remixes. It should be avoided at all costs. The second disc simply compiled the tracks from this original DAT release and “The Real Special Edition”, although many of the tracks were transcoded to a higher bitrate, despite the original source files being 256 kbs. Again, this is the version to have.

This Is It - Extended Orchestra Version.

Here’s the last of the 3 versions of This Is It that were featured on the Radio-Only Promo Single. We think that this is the best version of the track (and quite frankly the only one that feels like a truly completed song).

Only a week and a half until the premiere… who’s getting excited?

And remember, buy the soundtrack when it’s released. Sony is not releasing “This Is It” as a single (a silly idea in our opinion) so your only chance to purchase it is on the soundtrack CD.

This Is It - Album Version.

Turns out Sony posted the “Orchestra Edited” version. Here’s the album version without the orchestral overdubs.

And some little birdy told us that the whole promo single has been leaked online somewhere. But we wouldn’t know anything about that, would we.

Of course not.

And remember, buy the album when it comes out (but bear in mind the “single” is not being released to the public).
