One White Glove

To celebrate what would have been the 52nd Birthday of the King of Pop, One White Glove is proud to present this special gift to all of his fans.

This “rare promo 12-inch” was purchased on e-bay and is said to be a special promotional item for Michael Jackson’s This Is It. Unlike the 4-disc LP set, this features only the tracks from the second bonus disc of the CD release of This Is It as well as 2 Bonus “Rare” tracks.

The authenticity of this album, however, is questionable. While the pressing itself is fairly decent, and appears to be legitimate, the fact that there are several typo’s on the back cover (see included photos), no catalogue information of any sorts (apart from the number scratched into the dead-wax of the vinyl itself), the cover itself is printed on fairly light stock (and is clearly the regular artwork resized to 12 inches by 12 inches, meaning lots of compression artifacts are visible), and most importantly, the fact that the version of Hot Street that is included is actually a fan made remix leads me to believe that it is not an official promotional item.

That said, the quality of the tracks is all fantastic, and the vinyl itself sounds pretty great. It’s just not worth the rather exorbitant price I paid (hoping that the included version of “Hot Street” would be an official mix from Sony/The Estate).

The album was ripped using my Thorens TD 145 turntable with a Grado cartridge, and then fed through my Radio Shack SSM-8030 Stereo Mixer’s pre-amp and finally into my MacBook Pro where it was recorded at 44KhZ/16bit AIFF, and then subsequently transcoded to FLAC. There has been no cleanup on the files themselves - what you get is what came out of the vinyl. No EQ, or Noise Reduction, or Pop Clean-up. I figured I’d leave that to the experts.

At any rate, we hope you enjoy this disc and share it with all.

Happy Birthday Michael. Long Live the King.

L.O.V.E.

The Drill.

I want you to watch this. It’s short so just watch. And while you do I want you to remember one thing:

Jackson is nearly (if not actually) twice the age of these guys, and he is not only keeping up with them, he’s kicking their asses.

Even at 50, no one could out dance the King.

The film has now officially been open for a day, and we’re guessing most fans have seen it. So, what did you think of the film?

Leave a review below and we’ll post your thoughts later!

The following comes from Dame Elizabeth Taylor’s Twitter page in which she tweets (over the course of several individual tweets) her thoughts about “This Is It”.

For ease of reading we present them here joined together (we have added breaks where we feel they are most appropriate).

I was honored with the great privilege of seeing “This Is It” last week. I was sworn to secrecy, but now I can let you know about it. It is the single most brilliant piece of filmmaking I have ever seen. It cements forever Michael’s genius in every aspect of creativity. To say the man is a genius is an understatement.

He cradles each note, coaxes the music to depths beyond reality. I wept from pure joy at his God given gift. There will never, ever be the likes of him again. And we have this piece of film to remind us forever and ever that once there was such a man. God kissed him. God blessed him and squandered nothing, but loved it all.

Michael knew how to put together every tone, every nuance to make magic. To say he was a genius seems so little. I wish my vocabulary encompassed what I feel. You owe it to yourselves and your loved ones to see this again and again. Memorize it and say to yourselves, “I saw genius in my lifetime”. I loved genius in my lifetime. God was so good to me. I will love Michael forever and so will you, if you don’t already.

I hope I don’t sound condescending. I’m sure you already know what I’m talking about, but go to see it again and again. I meant to repeat myself. I love you.

I remember Michael loved you. He was totally up to now and the message of today in all his songs. If you listen to his lyrics they are those of a modern day prophet and it beseeches us to listen to him and what he sang. I won’t use words like preaching because that is off-putting, but listen. Listen to his messages. From “Black And White”, “Man In The Mirror”. The inspiration behind “We Are The World”. We must take his words of responsibility seriously. We cannot let his life be in vain / and always done with love.

Remember that. Remember him and thank God for him and his genius.

Kenny Ortega did a masterful job of directing the process that goes into making a complete show before hitting the stage. From A to Z you get Michael’s input on every level. Michael’s genius at work with the dancers. Mr. Ortega catches Michael in his every mood. You see in front of your eyes Michael’s genius blossoming on this piece of film thanks to Kenny Ortega and his crews. I truly believe this film should be nominated in every category conceivable.

“This Is It” opens Tomorrow evening. We’ll be at the Midnight screening and will report back about our thoughts.

This Is It is now available on iTunes, in two versions. The first is the complete album featuring all sixteen songs, plus a digital booklet. The second is the “bonus tracks only” edition which features only the 6 new tracks (perfect for fans who already have all the songs).

Unfortunately the single, “This Is It”, is album only for both versions (meaning you have to purchase either the complete 2-disc or complete highlights if you want to have “This Is It”).

We’ll be picking up our copy in stores, but we may also have to grab the highlights from iTunes.

This Is It - Extended Orchestra Version.

Here’s the last of the 3 versions of This Is It that were featured on the Radio-Only Promo Single. We think that this is the best version of the track (and quite frankly the only one that feels like a truly completed song).

Only a week and a half until the premiere… who’s getting excited?

And remember, buy the soundtrack when it’s released. Sony is not releasing “This Is It” as a single (a silly idea in our opinion) so your only chance to purchase it is on the soundtrack CD.
